Synopsis of   The Mystery of the Schemitah  –  Part 1

Good and joyful day today to all Christian brothers and sisters on this the day the Lord has made. Today’s slice of the bread of life comes from Leviticus 25:1 which is sub-titled, “The Sabbath.”  Therefore, let me give you the definition of the word “sabbath” according to the Noah Webster Dictionary of 1828.  ‘a period of rest dedicated and consecrated to the Lord.”

Leviticus 25:1     While Moses was on Mount Sinai, the LORD said to him,  2   “Give these instructions to the Israelites: When you have entered the land I am giving you as an inheritance, the land itself must observe a Sabbath to the LORD every seventh year.  3  For six years you may plant your fields and prune your vineyards and harvest your crops,  4  but during the seventh year the land will enjoy a Sabbath year of rest to the LORD. Do not plant your crops or prune your vineyards during that entire year.  5  And don’t store away the crops that grow naturally or process the grapes that grow on your unpruned vines. The land is to have a year of total rest.  6  But you, your male and female slaves, your hired servants, and any foreigners who live with you may eat the produce that grows naturally during the Sabbath year.  7  And your livestock and the wild animals will also be allowed to eat of the land’s bounty.

~The Year of Jubilee  8   “In addition, you must count off seven Sabbath years, seven years times seven, adding up to forty-nine years in all.  9  Then on the Day of Atonement of the fiftieth year, blow the trumpets loud and long throughout the land.  10  This year will be set apart as holy, a time to proclaim release for all who live there. It will be a jubilee year for you, when each of you returns to the lands that belonged to your ancestors and rejoins your clan.

Now that I’ve unclothed the meaning of the word “Sabbath,” let me tell you the title of today’s message:  The Mystery of the Schmitah – Part 1.   This a Hebrew word which I will also define as we progress.

All of this message and possibly messages in the next few weeks will be a supplement or an appendage to those same messages of coming changes and our ability to have faith in our Lord to not only accept the changes but become a part of them, as “Josephs on the Mountain”  or part of the “Radical Remnant on the Rise,” to be a partaker or participant of God’s coming design.

There is a connection that takes place when the Word of God stimulates the measure of faith inside of us. The word of God is alive !  It is living and active according to Hebrew 4:12  For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword,  When the Word and Faith collide…. WHAM !  an atmosphere for the supernatural is instantly formed and suddenly the power for your revelation is present.

You practice your faith every day; maybe even every moment of every day;  without knowing how an engine runs when you drive your car and get where you are going. You don’t have to know all about gravity and the law of lift to ride in a jet. All you need to know is that God’s word is for YOU and if you believe it, it can simply work miracles for you, no matter of the complications of the situation.

In Matthew chapter 8 we read where Jesus got into a boat and His disciples followed Him. Then a terrible storm arose, and the disciples feared for their lives. The awakened a sleeping Jesus, who they assumed was unaware of the crisis. While Jesus was literally in the same boat as His followers, He was unconcerned about the weather. He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.   My friends…. We, His disciples, His Josephs, His Radical Remnants…. Are in the same boat with the One whom even the winds and the sea obey.

Thus far this message was to reinforce and encourage you to be ready for the changes that are coming to the church as we know it.  Now, let’s take a closer look at what is really coming.

Do you remember when you were a kid and the game didn’t go the way it should have? You would yell out, “I want a do-over!” Well, jubilee is a giant do-over. With great wisdom, God saw that left to their own devices, human society would inevitably divide into the haves and the have-nots, with the usual scenario being that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. His solution was simple. Every fifty years we get a do-over. All property is redistributed, slaves are freed, and debts are forgiven. Everyone goes back to their own land and family and we begin again. “It shall be a jubilee for you: you shall return, every one of you to your property, and every one of you to your family. That fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you” (Leviticus 25:11).

Jesus, however, goes deeper than the Levitical concept of jubilee and incorporates it into a new way of life described powerfully in His parables. Rather than waiting fifty years to redistribute property and wealth and to forgive debts, Jesus calls us to forgiveness as a way of life. For Jesus, it’s a “do-over” world. We get to have second chances, third chances, and beyond (Matthew 18:21).   And where sisters and brothers are bowed down with unfair burdens of any kind, we are called to lift them up. Indeed, one of the Greek words that is translated into forgive (Luke 6:12) is aphiemi, which means to “lift off or away.”

You may be wondering why all this discussion of faith. It is because when we begin discussing the Schmita we may need a shoring up of our faith. So, now lets get on to studying the coming Shemitah of the year 5775 and the coming Year of the Jubilee in the year 5776..  Bro. Dick, the year 5775 and 5776?  Oh, yeah, that is the Jewish year that we refer to as the years of 2014-15 and 2015-16. Remember they still follow the time schedule provided by God that follows both the moon’s cycle and the sun’s cycle.

While many Christian assume when God created the Sun and the Moon that He did so for light, heat, gravity, and other natural mechanisms, when looking at…. Genesis 1:14     And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

The Bible says these are for “signs,” “seasons,” “days,” and “years.” The Hebrew word for “signs” in this context is “owth,” a word meaning a “miraculous sign,” “omen,” or “warning.” It signifies, among other things, that God created the heavenly bodies to communicate important matters at particular times to His covenant people. The next reason God created the sun and the moon is for “seasons.” Again, in our Western mindset, we figure God is talking about… winter, spring, summer, and autumn  This is the farthest from the truth. In Hebrew, the word here is “mow’ed” and is accurately translated as “an appointed time” or “divine appointment” especially related to “sacred seasons” or Feast days.

The word “mow’ed” implies that God has a “day timer” or “calendar” on which He keeps predetermined “appointments” with human history and that are connected with “His Feasts or Holy Days. So when the Scripture refers to “days and years” in Genesis 1:14, it is pointing to “Biblical days and years” or “holy days” as well as….Shemitah years and…. Jubilee years (every seventh year the land in Israel was to rest).

What is a Shemitah Year…? The Shemitah Year is the seventh year of the seven-year agricultural cycle.

The Mystery of the Schmitah – Part 1

Good and joyful day today to all Christian brothers and sisters on this the day the Lord has made. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of coffee, or tea, or milk, or whatever is your favorite, we’re about to slice a piece of the Bread of Life, the Word of God. And today’s slice comes from Leviticus 25:1 which is sub-titled, “The Sabbath.” Therefore, let me give you the definition of the word “sabbath” according to the Noah Webster Dictionary of 1828.

11 Yes, the fiftieth year will be a jubilee for you. During that year, do not plant any seeds or store away any of the crops that grow naturally, and do not process the grapes that grow on your unpruned vines. 12 It will be a jubilee year for you, and you must observe it as a special and holy time. You may, however, eat the produce that grows naturally in the fields that year.

13 In the Year of Jubilee each of you must return to the lands that belonged to your ancestors.

14   “When you make an agreement with a neighbor to buy or sell property, you must never take advantage of each other. 15 When you buy land from your neighbor, the price of the land should be based on the number of years since the last jubilee. The seller will charge you only for the crop years left until the next Year of Jubilee. 16 The more the years, the higher the price; the fewer the years, the lower the price. After all, the person selling the land is actually selling you a certain number of harvests. 17 Show your fear of God by not taking advantage of each other. I, the LORD, am your God. 18   “If you want to live securely in the land, keep my laws and obey my regulations.

Speaking of having faith lets discuss faith. Just what is faith. According to the Bible faith is “the substance of what you hope for.” It is another way of saying “Jesus, I believe You can and You will do this thing that I hope for. And because I believe that You can and will. I take Your Word…. as evidence that it is already done.” I believe we need to keep this description of faith in our back pocket where it is handy as we march on to the work the Lord has for us as Josephs.

Jesus said you could move something as large as a mountain with something as small as a mustard seed. You have to squint to see a mustard seed and you can’t even see around a mountain. That is the ratio Jesus applied between your faith and your endeavors.

A lot of people negotiate with the things of God, choosing one instead of the other when the potential is there to receive all from God that He is willing to give. What could happen if you negotiate around the truth which is blessed by Jesus; you may miss out on Gods plan for your success in serving Him.

All I can say to you is that God did not leave you out when He was handing out the faith stuff !

But, Bro. Dick, you’re asking me to perform like a minister and become involved in the teaching of others to make them disciples. Yes, it may be asking a lot of you, but it is not asking a lot of Jesus who is in the boat with you.

Let me tell you about more than 1000 evangelist and Christian leaders sitting in a giant auditorium in 1986 listening to the renowned evangelist Billy Graham say to them…. ”Let me tell you; every time I stand before the congregation of Gods people to preach, I tremble and my knees wobble.” How could such a great preacher, with his great sermons exhibit trembling and wobbling knees? He went on to state that he did not feel fear or stage fright, but intense humility and meekness as he felt inadequate for the task to which God had called him.

Also, Moses felt inadequate when God sent him to deliver the enslaved Israelites from their 400 years captivity in Egypt. Moses kept asking God to send someone else. God’s encouragement to Moses can spur us on: “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”

Thus far this message was to reinforce and encourage you to be ready for the changes that are coming to the church as we know it. Now, let’s take a closer look at what is really coming.

Lets go forward by looking backward at today’s slice of today’s slice of the bread of life, Leviticus chapter 25, that spoke not only of the Sabbath but the year of the Jubilee. The idea of jubilee, described wonderfully in this passage, is actually very central to any clear understanding of Christian faith. Yet, it is seldom taught by our scholars or our preachers.           In Hebrew, the word actually means “a time of shouting.” In scripture, we first uncover the idea where the legal code lays out an ethic that runs through very fabric of Judeo-Christian understanding. “And you shall hallow the fiftieth year and you shall proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants” (Leviticus 25:10).   And they weren’t kidding.

We see the concept running through Hebrew Scripture as it crops up in Numbers (36:4), Deuteronomy (15:1f), and Isaiah (58, 61). In Isaiah it takes on the powerful description of “the year of the Lord’s favor.”  Jubilee comes once more to the forefront as Jesus chooses this exact passage from Isaiah, to quote in the temple (Luke 4:18f) to let people know, essentially, that he is the Messiah (Luke 4:21). And most importantly, the Savior brought us the notion of the jubilee in The Lord’s Prayer, where we are admonished to “forgive debts” (Matthew 6:12).

Not only does God forgive us the many grievous things we’ve done, we ourselves are called and given the power to forgive one another. Equity, justice, compassion, and forgiveness are to permeate our lives as individuals and community. Where sins may burden our hearts, we are empowered to forgive. Where brokenness may shatter human relationships, we are called to forgive and heal. And where sisters and brothers are bowed down with unfair burdens of any kind, we are called to lift them up. Indeed, one of the Greek words that is translated into forgive (Luke 6:12) is aphiemi, which means to “lift off or away.

This biblical line of jubilee represents an incredible movement of Spirit and is truly the movement of God’s Spirit. This brings me to read Philippians 4:18 I am full, having received the things senf from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, well pleasing to God. Paul is saying that our generous acts of love toward others are like a “sweet smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.” When we think of helping someone in need we usually think of it as a Christ-like thing to do. But Paul says that our intentional act of reaching out to meet someone’s need actually fills the throne room of God with a fragrance that brings pleasure to Him. What an added incentive this is for us to perform deeds of kindness in His name.

Having told you that the title of today’s message is The Mystery of the Schmitah, and then discussing the Sabbath and the Year of the Jubilee, you may be wondering why all this discussion of faith.

The next “Shemitah” or “Biblical Sabbatical Year” runs from: Sept/ 25, 2014 until… Sept. 13, 2015.

While many Christian assume when God created the Sun and the Moon that He did so for light, heat, gravity, and other natural mechanisms, when looking at

Gen 1:14     And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

We learn of four other purposes behind why the lights in the heavens were created and placed where they are.

This same Hebrew word is translated into English in Leviticus 23 as “feast” where it talks about the “Feasts of the Lord.”

At first, these two words; “appointments” and “feasts” seem about as far apart as you can get. This is why one needs to keep the Hebrew language in perspective so as not to miss the deeper meaning of this text. The word “mow’ed” implies that God has a “day timer” or “calendar” on which He keeps predetermined “appointments” with human history and that are connected with “His Feasts or Holy Days.” God the Father knew the year, the month, the day, and the exact time His Son, Yeshua (Jesus) would die and how this event would be played out in fulfilment of the Levitical feasts of Israel.  Finally, God declares that the sun and the moon were created to determine “days and years.” Obviously, this has nothing to do with our modern Gregorian calendar, which was created by a pagan Roman ruler and is based on the sun. The Muslim calendar is based on the moon. But the Biblical calendar… the one that God uses according to Genesis is based on the sun and the moon. So when the Scripture refers to “days and years” in Genesis 1:14, it is pointing to “Biblical days and years” or “holy days” as well as….Shemitah years and…. Jubilee years (every seventh year the land in Israel was to rest).

What is a Shemitah Year…? The Shemitah Year is the seventh year of the seven-year agricultural cycle mandated by the Torah for the Land of Israel and still observed in contemporary Judaism. When Moses received the Levitical law, God gave the commandment to rest on the seventh day…            (the Sabbath. According to the Noah Webster dictionary of 1828 the word “Sabbath” is a period of rest dedicated and consecrated to the Lord.)

Moses also applied the cycles of “seven” to weeks and years. A cycle of seven weeks points to the 50th day, called Pentecost. And a cycle of seven sets of seven years points to the 50th year, the year of Jubilee.

Leviticus chapter 25 also promises bountiful harvests to those who observe the Shemitah, and describes its observance as a test of religious faith.

The Hebrew people count and observe 7 year cycles. Every cycle would fulfill a “Sabbatical Year known as a “Shemitah” or and means, “to release!”

At this time I’d like to stop teaching and to pray….

Lord, you are our Shepherd; instruct us in following you beside still waters and pastures, anoint our head with the oil of understanding as we seek after your statutes. Fill us with your Holy Spirit to bless us with wisdom and understanding in this endeavor. Amen

Back to our study. You may recall my message of weeks past on the “blood red moon,” and it’s importance when coming up during the Sukkoth, otherwise known as the Festival of Tabernacle. Now we are looking forward to it’s coming this year with great expected significance. This is considered a “tetrad,” (t-e-t-r-a-d) simply meaning “a group of four things.”

When this tetrad occurred in the years 1949-50 Israel became a state, in the years 1968-69, the six-day war brought the recapture of the Golan Heights, the Jordan River, and the Temple Mount. So…. what happens when this tetrad happens in 2015?

Pastor Mark Biltz in Puyallup, Washington, has researched the tetrads’ history and found that when they have occurred, significant world events have happened. For example in 1492, King Ferdinand Queen Isabella expelled the Jews from Spain and Columbus sailed the ocean to discover the new world.

Four total eclipses will fall on the first day of Passover and the first day of Sukkoth in 2014 and 2015, the same back-to-back occurrences at the time of 1492 1948 and 1967. This tetrad ties in with a lot of other of today’s prophecies. When put together, the convergence lines of what’s happening in the heavens and earth tie in with Biblical prophecies greater than we have ever seen or heard.

Let’s look at….  Jeremiah 30:7  KJV   Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.                        -or-

TLB Jeremiah 30:7 “Alas, in all history when has there ever been a time of terror such as in that coming day? It is a time of trouble for my people – for Jacob – such as they have never known before. Yet God will rescue them!                -and-

Habakkuk 2:1-3    This is the prayer of triumph that Habakkuk sang before the Lord:             2 O Lord, now I have heard your report, and I worship you in awe for the fearful things you are going to do. In this time of our deep need, begin again to help us, as you did in years gone by. Show us your power to save us. In your wrath, remember mercy.

My friends I believe the time is short. Is everyone asleep at the switch? Does anyone on Wall Street read the news? Just a little common sense says a major stock market correction is in our future. Security experts warn that a terrorist attack on American soil appears imminent. Yet, the stock market sits at an all time high. There is a disconnect somewhere! The money is coming in from printing presses of the Federal Reserve. Our unsecured borders could bring more than terrorism.

Then there’s the economy, taxes are so high that companies are running away from America; take Burger King, for example. As more corporations and wealthy citizens run for the door, who will be left to pay America’s taxes? A staggering 1/3 of America in now on welfare. Ninety-two million working-age Americans are not in the workforce. These figures come from the reports from personaliliberty.com, Wayn Allyn Roots.

Total lunar eclipses will fall in 2014 and 2015; the same back to back occurrences that occurred in 1492, 1948 and 1967 the year of the Six-Day War in Israel. Acts 2:20 lays the groundwork: “The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord.”

My friends, I am not trying to frighten you; the Bible is !!

Joel 1:15-18   Alas, this terrible day of punishment is on the way. Destruction from the Almighty is almost here! 16 Our food will disappear before our eyes; all joy and gladness will be ended in the Temple of our God. 17 The seed rots in the ground; the barns and granaries are empty; the grain has dried up in the fields. 18 The cattle groan with hunger; the herds stand perplexed, for there is no pasture for them; the sheep bleat in misery. 19 Lord, help us! For the heat has withered the pastures and burned up all the trees. 20 Even the wild animals cry to you for help, for there is no water for them. The creeks are dry, and the pastures are scorched.

Joel 2:1     Blow the trumpet in Jerusalem! Sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let everyone tremble in fear because the day of the LORD is upon us. 2 It is a day of darkness and gloom, a day of thick clouds and deep blackness. Suddenly, like dawn spreading across the mountains, a mighty army appears! How great and powerful they are! The likes of them have not been seen before and never will be seen again.

Haggai 2:20 And again the word of the LORD came unto Haggai in the fourth and twentieth day of the month, saying, 21 Speak to Zerubbabel, governor of Judah, saying, I will shake the heavens and the earth; 22 And I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the chariots, and those that ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.

God is trying to warn us of these days to come soon. Not because he wants to punish us, he would rather protect us. But, guess whose move is next?

From Bill Koenig of World Watch Daily International News it’s been reported that there has been seven back-to-back blood red moons fallen on the first day of Passover and Sukkoth, with the eight coming in 2014-15.   Remember? The number 8 signifies a new beginning or the end at this age and the beginning of a new age, the age of the Messiah, or known as the Messianic Age.

There were no back-to-back red moons during the 16th., 17th., or 18th. centuries. In the 15th. century there were six, but none of those fell on Passover and Sukkoth. The 2014-15 Tetrads will be the last of this century.

So…. I’ll ask each of you to review Leviticus 28:8-12 ~The Year of Jubilee

So what does this have to do with America? I’m glad you asked….                                             John Cahn in his sequel to the book titled, “The Harbinger,” points out in the book “The Mystery of the Shemitah,” a shocking discovery that the five great economic crashes of the last 40 years —

1973, 1980, 1987, 2001, and 2008 – have all occurred in Shemitah years; those that God set apart as Sabbath years (years for the land to rest. Realize that the 2001 Twin Tower and economic crash ad also the 2008 Wall Street Crash both coincided precisely with the exact end of the Shemitah year on the Hebrew calendar day of Elul 29th. which is the beginning of the calendar of the new Hebrew year. What does this mean? Cahn summed it by saying “America is progressing toward God’s judgment.”

Oh, yes, it is true that according to the Bible the Shemitah year was set aside as a blessing for the nation of Israel. It was to be set aside as a rest for the land with no sowing or reaping, Instead, God would provide food miraculously for the people, as he did during the Exodus from Egypt.

However, Cahn points out, if the Shemitah was not observed by the people, it would become a curse, as described later in Leviticus chapter 25, as we just read. That is exactly what happened in 586 BC. The Temple fell and Judah went into captivity in Babylon for 70 years. The Shemitah can mean
“release” or it can mean to “fall or collapse.”

It is for this reason I am preaching this series of messages; the future of this country, as well as all others is dependent on how God’s people observe what He request of His people. The “release,” or the “collapse” of these United States of America. I am proud that our anthem says “I pledge allegiance to the United States of America one nation under God…..” But, I believe we better pledge allegiance to the that God that our future hold a “release” and not a “fall or collapse.”

Are you ready, Joseph or Radical Remnant.  Our God is speaking to us.

He will either hug or spank us all. I didn’t say that……… He did.

The face of the clock on the wall brings me to the Three Little Words from the little book of the same title. And, the three little words for this week are, Submit To God. And the verses to go with it are….

Romans 10:3  They being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Psalm 37:23   The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fail, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand.

James 4:7       Submit yourselves therefor to God.

So until next Sunday                 same time                 same station

As today’s message just said….

America Bless God               and               God will “release” us.
