Synopsis of Things to Come

Good and joyful day today to all Christian brothers and sisters on this the day the Lord has made. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of coffee, or tea, or milk, or whatever is your favorite, we’re about to slice a piece of the Bread of Life, the Word of God. And today’s slice comes from Leviticus 25:1-4.

Last week we considered the difference of Isaiah 9:10 and 9:11 (which I just read for today’s slice of bread of life. That difference being: 9:10 being a vow of defiance and 9:11 being a prophecy of future calamities. Then we examined the number 7 being divided into 6 and 1, just like the days of the week are divided into week’s days and the Sabbath. This led us into Leviticus 25:1-4.

When you come into the land which I give you, then the land shall keep a Sabbath to the Lord. Six years you shall sow your fields, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather its fruit but in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a Sabbath to the Lord.

The seventh year was given a name: Shemitah, S-h-e-m-i-t-a-h,

Then, Leviticus 25-5:

What grows of its own accord for your harvest thou shall not reap nor gather the grapes of your untended vine, for it is a year of rest for the land.

Then, Deuteronomy 15:1-2:

At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debts. And this is the form of the release: Every creditor who has lent anything to his neighbor shall release it; he shall not require it of his neighbor or his brother, because it is called the Lord’s release or “Shemitah.”

This means then that the Shemitah would touch the economic realm and transform it as on the seventh year all debts were cancelled. We were then reminded that in 2008 the debacle of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the notification of AIG of its critical danger of collapsing. Now it seems that Leviticus and Deuteronomy are speaking not just to Israel but also to America.

What did Deuteronomy 15:1 say: “At the end of every seven years you shall grant a release of debt.”  What happened in America? One month after the date of the Shemitah the stock market began it’s slow motion decline…billions of dollars are wiped  away. That sounds familiar…“The remission of credit and debt.” And, oh yes, the Shemitah has a second meaning: “the year of the letting fall.”

When the American government refused to bailout Lehman Brothers it created the stock market crash. In other words they let it fall.  Now, just when did this happen? The first day of emergency meetings in New York City as the Treasury Secretary notified Wall Street of the government’s decision to let it fall.  Hear this. It was seven years from the vow to emerge stronger than before to this notice to Wall Street. Just as in ancient times the same vow would ultimately lead to the collapse of ancient Israel. This brings us to today’s message which is titled: Things to Come.

Let us look at: Deuteronomy 19:15 and 2 Corinthians 13:1, which read the same:  “By the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established.” The first certification, (witness) was announced on the day after the calamity proclaiming the ancient prophecy. The second certification emerges three years later to deliver a address focused entirely around the same ancient prophecy. Each link 9/11 to Isaiah 9:11, or America to Israel. That’s two certifications, (witnesses) but the verses each refers to “by the mouth of two or three witnesses.

The third came to this same place; the place where Presidents give their inaugural speech. On February 24, 2009 comes the new President he addressed a joint session of Congress and the nation as follows:  I quote President Obama as follows:

“Madam Speaker, Mr. Vice President, Members of Congress and the First Lady of the United States: I’ve come here tonight not only to address the distinguished men and women in this great chamber, but to speak frankly and directly to the men and women who sent us here. I know that for many Americans watching right now, the state of our economy is a concern that rises above all others.”

Now the speech turns:

“But while our economy may be weakened and our confidence shaken; though we are living through difficult and uncertain times, tonight I want every American to know this—WE WILL REBUILD.”

Did you hear that…. It’s the vow. It’s Isaiah 9:10.

This speech of February 24, 2009 was picked up by news services all over the world blaring out these three words, “We will rebuild.”  CBS – CNN – MSNBC – The Guardian – National Public Radio – Times Online – Fox News – Al Jazeeera – Associated Press – and – New York Times. Why is that important? Because just before Isaiah 9:10, Isaiah 9:9 says, “…and all the people will know it.

I want to draw your attention to another thought. Solomon was King of Israel and George Washington was First President of the United States of America. Here is another link between Israel and America. The Temple of Jerusalem was the house of God’s glory, but in 587 BC, after not years but centuries of apostasy, the Lord allowed, notice I said allowed, His house to be touched by judgment and destroyed. As the Temple went, so did the nation. The apostasy of the nation called upon itself the judgment.  Sounds familiar?

Concisely, the nation’s ground of consecration will become the ground of judgment. As the Temple represented the nations covenant with God, it’s destruction was the signal that the covenant was broken. Still, it was also a signal that God was calling the nation back.

Bro. Dick, what does that have to do with America?

Things to Come

Good and joyful day today to all Christian brothers and sisters on this the day the Lord has made. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of coffee, or tea, or milk, or whatever is your favorite, we’re about to slice a piece of the Bread of Life, the Word of God. And today’s slice comes from Isaiah 9:10-13:

The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the Sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars. 11 Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together; 12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. 13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.

For three Sundays I have preached on the nine Omens, or Harbingers, or warnings to America who seems to be following in the footsteps of Israel’s errors of two thousand and five hundred years ago. This we find in the ancient mystery that holds the secret of America’s future. All of this refers to the verse Isaiah 9:11; which surprisingly calls attention to a date burnished in all our minds the 9/11 catastrophe.

We considered the difference of Isaiah 9:10 and 9:11 (which I just read for today’s slice of bread of life. That difference being: 9:10 being a vow of defiance and 9:!1 being a prophecy of future calamities. This brings us to today’s message which is titled: Things to Come.

Now the speech turns:

“But while our economy may be weakened and our confidence shaken; though we are living through difficult and uncertain times, tonight I want every American to know this—WE WILL REBUILD.”

Did you hear that…. It’s the vow. It’s Isaiah 9:10  It was also the same words “We will rebuild” that propelled the war on terror by the speech given by the former president

Just for the fun of it lets look at what those same three words, “We will rebuild” would elicit when being googled. First if it was googled prior to this speech by Obama the search engine would bring up the ancient prophecy. However, if googled after this speech these same three words would bring up the words of the President of the United States of America.

There is the third certification, or as Deuteronomy 19:15 and 2 Corinthians 13:1 said it, “By the mouth of two or three witnesses the matter shall be established.”

This speech of February 24, 2009 was picked up by news services all over the world blaring out these three words, “We will rebuild.” CBS – CNN – MSNBC – The Guardian – National Public Radio – Times Online – Fox News – Al Jazeeera – Associated Press – and – New York Times.

Sounds familiar?

Let’s examine what Solomon first did when he dedicated the Temple. He addressed the nation’s leaders and reminded them how faithful God had been to the nation. Then he offered prayer for the future generations. Solomon seemingly was foreseeing the possibility of the nation’s coming departure from God. His words were not foretelling, but prophetic to say the least. It was not only the Temple that was being dedicated that day, but the nation.

The apostasy of the nation called upon itself the judgment. Concisely, the nation’s ground of consecration will become the ground of judgment. As the Temple represented the nations covenant with God, it’s destruction was the signal that the covenant was broken. Still, it was also a signal that God was calling the nation back.

Bro. Dick, what does that have to do with America? Look at this. The day after 9/11 the Senate Majority Leader recited the words of prophecy at the end of his speech, which we have talked about already. But, at the beginning of his speech he mentioned a number. He said, “It is with pain, sorrow, anger, and resolve that I stand before this Senate – a symbol for 212 years of the strength of our Democracy. The year 2001 minus 212 years equals 1789. America was founded in 1796, but America became a nation with a Senate and a House of Representatives. Specifically, it came into reality on April 30, 1789. It was the day of the inauguration of our first President of the United States, George Washington.

The dedication of the Temple was also the inauguration of King Solomon. The nation’s leaders:   King Solomon and President George Washington.

I will not recite Solomon’s entire inaugural address, but let me read this one line: “Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency.” Also, by the way, he then led his people in prayer.

On April 23rd, 1789 the New York Daily Advisor announced, as they put it, the date and hour of the investment of the prudence and also the solemn manner of commitment of the new government. What was the place appointed for this sacred gathering? A little stone church in the Capital City. Here is a fact not too often noted. The first capital of the United States was New York City. Something else not spoken of too often is bronze statue of George Washington stands on Wall Street facing the New York Stock Exchange.

There is an inscription on the statue that reads: “On this site in Federal Hall, April 30th, 1789 George Washington took the oath as the First President of the United States of America.”

This same little stone church can be visited today. It is distinctive and also unassuming. The front has a columned façade. The back has a steeple like you’d find in an old church building. In 1789 the back was the main entrance. Take note of this. Today if you stand with your back to the old entrance and look out you would be looking at…. you’d be looking at…. Ground Zero

Do you realize what this means, America was committed to God at the corner of what would become Ground Zero. More than that it also means that this sacred ground is the nation’s hedge of protection broken. Think about the ancient principle: “… the ground of dedication becomes the ground of calamity… the judgment returns to the ground of consecration.”

This all adds up to the fact that Ground Zero was originally the ground owned by the church. America’s ground of consecration is Ground Zero.

Next, should you become curious enough to be led around the corner alongside the dark fence you’d find an object on display. Why, it’s a tree trunk. By golly it is “the Sycamore of Ground Zero, or what was left of it, that was, inside the courtyard of St. Paul’s Chapel, on the same ground where America was committed to God. It was placed as a display for the public to see. You would also see the evergreen, that is the tree planted in its place, the Erez tree. Remember: “But we will plant cedars in their place.”

Recall that it was in Federal Hall that America, as a nation, was founded. Well, when the towers fell, a shock wave was sent forth from Ground Zero to Federal Hall. The impact was so great that it opened up cracks in the foundation. You might say that they are cracks in the foundation of the nations foundation. This, then, was where George Washington spoke the prophetic words; just like King Solomon spoke prophetically of his nations future at the Temple’s dedication.

Washington’s message included: “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself hath ordained.” What does The propitious smiles of Heaven mean? God’s blessings and favor.

My friends, that statue of George Washington standing in front of the New York Stock Exchange is a witness of the falling of the America’s prosperity, as it collapsed. A silent testimony of warning that the propitious smiles of heaven were being withdrawn. As I have stated in prior messages of this series, the purposes of the omens, or Harbingers, or warnings, is not to condemn America to judgment but to save it, to turn it back from destruction. As I’ve said before my sermons in this series is not to put fear into your hearts but to put the desire to become involved in turning this nation back to being the Godly people it once was.

With all that said, God’s will is that none should perish. Judgment isn’t His desire, but His necessity.  Keep in mind Sodom was a city of corruption and violence and immorality and depravity. Yet there was still hope. God was willing to spare the entire city if only ten righteous people would have been found within it. Then, how about Judah a kingdom that had known God but fallen to having altars to foreign gods. A kingdom covered with blood of its children. King Josiah reversed Israel’s spiritual deterioration by banning pagan practices, destroying their idols, smashing altars, and sought after God.

Judgment didn’t come. However, after Josiah died the kingdom turned back to their spiritual degeneration causing its demise. And of course we all recall the biblical story of Nineveh.

What should concern us is not that the judgment did or did not happen as proclaimed. The will of man is for judgment, but the will of God is salvation. Greater than His judgment is His compassion.

And God is still calling America. America are you listening, the message is return.

King Solomon has a prophetic word for America…. “For that nation that has turned from God, for that nation from which the smiles of heaven have been withdrawn.”

There is another prophetic word for America. It is to be found in the Book of 2 Chronicles 7:14-16, as well as on many signs around our part of this nation. It reads:

Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land. 15 I will listen to every prayer made in this place, 16 for I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be my home forever. My eyes and my heart will always be here.

The words “if my people” could be referring to all the people of the nation, or does it mean those whom He calls “His people” who follow his ways.

As I end this message let me say that much of this series of messages I got from the mind of the author of a book titled “The Harbinger.” Its author is Jonathan Cahn. In fact his full name is Rabbi Jonathan Cahn. Yes, he is Jewish; or as I might like to call him, a “completed Jew,” That is he is Jewish by heritage, raised in a strict Jewish religious family; but he is a Christian. He loves, my, your, and his Lord and the Word of God, our Bible.

I’d like to have him talk to you today. I received a copy of one of his speeches and added it to this teaching. Here is Rabbi Jonathan Cahn…

Thank you Rabbi Cahn.

I hope this causes you to realize that I am not the only watchmen on the wall called by God to sound the alarm. It took a Jewish Rabbi to teach us how we need to turn this nation around.

So until next Sunday,  same time, same station.

Remember, you in your own way, with your own skill, in your own place may be a watchman on the wall.

America Bless God and God will Bless America.
