Synopsis of: What on Earth is Kingdom Living Series: Kingdom Concept
Good and joyful morning this morning to all Christian brothers and sisters on this the day the lord has made. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of coffee, or tea, or milk, or whatever is your favorite…. We’re about to slice a piece of the bread of life, the word of God.
Mat 13:44 “again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. 45 “again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,46 “who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it. 47 “again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, 48 “which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away. 49 “so it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, 50 “and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”
My first statement will wake you up and possibly startle you. The greatest threat to the future of the world is religion.
Nuclear weapons, terrorism, shifting governments, military coups are simply tools used by religion.More wars have been fought in the name of religion than any other influence. Millions have died over the past 2000 years under the hand of religious zeal. Misplaced and misguided religious passion has produced such historical scars as the crusades, the inquisition, ethnic cleansing, and the horrors of the holocaust.
Why is religion so powerful and controlling? Why is it more powerful than politics, military arms, scientific advancement? Because religion is not just a social, cultural, or ideological factor; instead it finds its power in the personal chambers of the soul of the individual. Religion is as old as mankind. Every culture, no matter how old has developed some form of religious practice that attempts to satisfy a vacuum in the human soul, crying out for reason, and purpose and significance.
From the archaic world of the cave man and bush hunters through the secession of cultures, to the industrial revolution leading to the scientific age, and the computer age, we are still no better off than …nor different from …our ancestors.
Over the centuries we have watched the creation of a variety of governmental systems including demi-gods, dictators, monarchies and tyrannies, as well as the theories and practices of socialism, democracy, communism, and imperialism. All governments…. Even the best for we have developed, democracy….have failed to realize the world we keep searching for.
Two of the greatest tragedies of modern history were WW1 and WW2, when millions lost their loves at the hand of fellow planet-dwellers. After WW1 leaders joined and promised that it would never happen again. They created the league of nations, dedicated tp promoting world peace. However this pipe dream exploded with WW11. Today wars continue to plague us with the united nations itself under serious scrutiny.
It is ironic that most of the current wars and tensions are products of….. or strongly influenced by…..religions. Where do we go from here? What do we do? What is the answer? Why do our cultures continue to keep clashing with each others and why do our children on the streets kill one another? It concludes…. That if our world has no answers to the questions it asks and no solutions to the problems it creates, than it might be wise to look to another world for help.
There is nothing more powerful than an idea. When an idea is conceived it is called a thought… when a thought is conceived it is called a concept. Concepts are the material that dreams are made of and they serve as the substance for living and interpreting life. Everything humans have made or invented was first preceded by an idea. In essence, the mind can be impregnated by ideas that develop into concepts that become visions that produce reality. This may be what the great king Solomon meant when he wrote over 3000 years ago, “As a man thinketh so is he”.
Since the beginning of time, the dreams of a utopian society have motivated and sustained the passion of mankind. The driving force and desire for the perfect world find it’s way into every civilization and had been the source of inspiration that has led to the inventions of physiological ideas and also of religions.
This is the belief that somewhere in some unknown place a person would come who would provide the answers to all our problems. He would establish the “ideal world”…… the world of peace, love, joy, and harmony among all mankind. This search and desire for an idyllic world is the source of the development of the concept called “ideology.” An ideology is the formulation of ideas and thoughts that’s are defined as a philosophy or …. A way of thinking. Isn’t that what Adam and Eve gave up eternal life for, knowledge.
Yet man’s hope and desire for “utopia” still eludes him. It is still plagued with the inequality, the racism, prejudice, injustice, corruption, jealousy, competition, abuse, neglect and disparity between the “haves” and the “have-nots.”
Most of us would not want to admit a desire for power, but the reality is that this is the basic desire of every human being. When I use the term “power” I do not mean the oppressive, dictatorial control of people…. But rather… the ability to control one’s own circumstances and environment.
We have become so well educated in the knowledge of the human body… the names, the purposes, and the functions of all of it’s intricate parts and organs. Yet with this discovery there are over 6 billion people on planet earth and only a few of them know why they exist…… what is man? Why was man created? Why was he put on this planet? What is he to do? My friend, man is the crowning act of an intentional creator. He exists as God’s co-regent in a world created for him. If we seek to understand the creation… we must first understand the creator.
