Synopsis of How Can I Know What God Wants Me to Do ?
Good and joyful morning this morning to all Christian brothers and sisters on this the day the lord has made. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of coffee, or tea, or milk, or whatever is your favorite…. We’re about to slice a piece of the bread of life, the word of god. And today’s slice comes from….
KJV – JAMES 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of god, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 but let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 for let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the lord. 8 a double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
NLT – 5 JAMES 1:5 If you need wisdom – if you want to know what God wants you to do – ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 They can’t make up their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do.
I promised at the end of last weeks message to graduates, “Is There Life After High School” that I would continue today’s message …. HOW CAN I KNOW WHAT GOD WANTS ME TO DO. Last weeks message presented them with more questions than answers. Perhaps today’s message will lead them to finding the answers they need. May I begin with:
2nd Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. 17 It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.
