Good and joyful day today on this The day The Lord has made. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of coffee, or tea, or milk, or whatever is your favorite…. We’re about to slice a piece of The bread of life, The word of God. And today’s slice comes from Isaiah 2:2       And it shall come to pass in The last days, that The mountain of The Lord’s house shall be establisThed in The top of The mountains, and shall be exalted above The hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 and many people shall go and say, come ye, and let us go up to The mountain of The Lord, to The house of The God of Jacob; and The will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth The law, and The word of The Lord from Jerusalem.

For The last 30 years God has been speaking to us about this verse. I have personally been placed in The midst of many of the men who have spoken at these conferences. Last year I spoke a series of sermons entitled “The Seven Mountains of Influence in our Society.” Perhaps, those of you who listen regularly may remember The introduction … which I will repeat now….

Over 30 years ago, God gave three men a vision; Lauren Cunningham, founder of Youth with a Mission, Bill Bright of Campus Crusades for Christ and Francis Schaeffer, Theologian and founder of l’abre. The vision was a description on how to advance The kingdom of God in this generation. Lauren Cunningham said, “It was August of 1975 and the Lord had given me that day a list of things I had never thought of before. The said this is the way to reach America and The nations for God.”

Today…. in every city of the world an unseen battle rages for dominion over God’s creation and the souls of people. This battle is fought on seven strategic fronts looming like mountains over the culture, to shape and influence its destiny. Over the years the church has slowly retreated from its place of influence on these mountains leaving a void now filled with darkness. When we lose our influence, we lose the culture. And when we lose the culture we fail to advance the kingdom of God. And now a generation stands in desperate need. It is time to fight for them and take back these mountains of influence.

I am speaking of those things I hear us you complain about every day.

● how terrible today’s entertainment is.

● how horrible our government has become.

● how sad is the condition of our educational system.

● how bad has become The family situations.

● how miserable The voice of The media has become.

● how The churches are losing attendance and / or how people are changing from one denomination to another, in search.

Yes…. the seven mountains spoken of in today’s verse are as they were then and are now….

The mountain of government – where evil is either restrained or endorsed.

The mountain of education – where truth or lies about God and his creation are taught.

The mountain of media, where information is interpreted through the lens of good or evil.

The mountain of arts and entertainment – where values and virtue are celebrated or destroyed.

The mountain of religion – where people worship God in spirit and in truth or settle for a religious ritual.

The mountain of family – where either the blessing or curse is passed on to successive generations. And…

And the one mountain that they all depend on, the mountain that fuels and funds all the other mountains, the mountain of Economy– where people build for the glory of God or the glory of man, where resources are consecrated for the kingdom of God or captured for the powers of darkness. Those who lead and control this mountain control what influences our culture.

The last 50 years we have seen the most rapid moral decline in history. The culture we inherited from our forefathers is disintegrating before our eyes. What kind of world are we leaving for our children and grandchildren?

As long as the economymountain is held by enemies of the gospel, funding for the other mountains will always be constrained and any effort to advance the kingdom of God will be hindered.

I spoke those words last year….. “Funding for the other mountains will always be constrained and any effort to advance the kingdom of God will be hindered”. Has there been any change?? For better?? Or for worse??

Imagine God’s people reclaiming their cities and government in the arts and entertainment, in the media, in education, in the family, in religious influence – but being only limited by their imagination and not by a lack of finances. God’s move to take these mountains back has already begun. Thousands and thousands of business leaders in every city across the nation are filling arenas to learn from business leaders and hear the gospel of Christ.

● 90% of people working in the market place believe in God.

● 78% do believe spirituality and business mix.

● 70% say that because of their faith they find meaning and purpose in life.

There are over 56,000,000 bible believing Christians working in the marketplace – a vast army of God waiting to be truly engaged in the battle. (and that’s you, my friend, either as an employer or an employee.) Yet this strategic army and battle front has largely been left ignored by the church. What do you mean bro. Dick? The polls tell us that more than 90% of church members do not feel they are being equipped or trained by the church to apply biblical faith in their day to day life.

Os Hillman says, “The business mountain is so strategic because that is the place of influence. When you look at culture, so much culture is defined by what happens in business.”   and,   “When you bring economy and economic benefit to a nation and a culture, then you have influence in that culture.”

Lauren Cunningham stated, “If we would use the wealth of the world to bless the world and bless it not only to distribute to the needy that which they need.”   and   “People, as they are transformed, will transform all the spheres of society.”

Who? People. That’s us! It is time to reclaim the seven mountains and bring the life of God back into our culture.

My friends in Christ…. Look around us….. We are becoming prey. That’s p- r- e- y, not  pray. The hour is upon us when the words spoken by Isaiah against the people of God, namely Israel, will now be manifest in our generation.

So how did we get here? How is it that a once Christian nation has come to have it’s hands defiled with blood, it’s fingers with iniquity, it’s lips with lies, and it’s tongue with perversity? Why is it that no one calls for justice any more? No one pleads for truth. I’ll tell you why. Because: the watchman stopped watching, the shepherds stopped feeding the sheep proper feed. The intercessors stopped praying and the absolute truth of God’s word stopped being preached from God’s pulpits.

Why ? Because those who would support the truth financially… are too few in number to meet our budgetary needs. We seem to have bridged the gap between the church and the world…. But, it is the church that has become more like the world, not the world becoming like the church.
