Synopsis of Prepare for Victory
Good and joyful day today to all Christian brothers and sisters on this the day the Lord has made. Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cup of coffee, or tea, or milk, or whatever is your favorite, we’re about to slice a piece of the Bread of Life, the Word of God. And today’s slice comes from: EPH 6:12 For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.
In these days of intense political confrontation, the very foundation of our social order is being challenged. This is not necessarily a bad thing. The evaluation of our true condition will always be useful if we use it the right way, to strengthen our foundations. Remember that the truth is more powerful than any lie. If we will stand for the truth, we cannot lose because Christ, the Truth Himself has guaranteed us that He will always lead us in His triumph. Notice, I said in His triumph, not our triumph. We must fight as though it is His battle or we will allow ourselves to get in the way with our own plans.
We must always keep in mind that we are never warring against people, any people, but against spiritual forces who are holding people captive, as we just read in today’s slice. Spiritual forces use people to do their will, but we must not stoop to just fighting with people. The battle is much bigger than that. Remember what God said to the Israelites when they were to cross into their promised land…. Isaiah 7:1 When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou; 2 And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:
So, our battle is bigger than the conflict between Republicans and Democrats. It is bigger than our personal agenda(s). That brings me to say that one spiritual victory we’ve won by Obama’s election and that should never be lost in this election. It was a victory against one of the most evil strongholds that dominates much of mankind…… racism. We should rejoice and be very proud of our nation for electing our first black President. Like him or not this was a huge victory over our racist history, though racism is still much alive in our country. Racism is rooted in two of the ultimate evils of the human heart…. pride and fear. We are racist if we fear those who are different from us. I don’t mean to refer to black / white racism. It is just as evil when we think we are better or above Orientals, Asians, Mexicans, or even those who are not native to our county or city.
The Lord has been shaking our nation. He has been moving people around in all levels of society. He is telling His people that He is bringing deliverance, a great awakening, to our land. Be aware the He has been preparing His church to receive Him as they should. This time the church will not contain Him, for even now He is expanding her vision beyond the walls of the church. What is coming is too big to stay indoors. He is preparing hearts to receive Him and to ride with Him rather than against Him when He comes. Positioning and preparing are both vital in these days, but we must be aware that He has been doing both in us already. Positioning and preparing is not the end unto themselves, they are setting up His church to receive and to steward the territory where the Lord establishes each of us, that we should refashion our nation as all parts come together in common unity.
We need only to be a student of history to see how people armed with only the Spirit of the Lord and His Word, the Bible, have transformed nations. The problem is that most Americans live without an understanding that our government, education, science, technology, industries, values, and freedom came from an infusion of the Bible upon our culture. True history is no longer being taught. Therefore, these institutions have lost their spiritual moorings, and the cultural elites have driven the idea home that our nation is a secular one. We have become, as a nation, as the prodigal son.
Freedom of religion once meant freedom to worship God without government intrusion. Now it means government enforced privatization of religious freedom, and equal status of all public displays of the same; but with Christianity excepted.
How is this nation to be saved? As long as we put the solution off upon someone else, it cannot be. The truth is that America is first and foremost a government of the people, by the people and for the people. Thus it is the duty of each concerned American to be part of the restoration process.
If we wait for a George Washington to take the reins in the White House, and we cannot be the Patrick Henry, John Adam, Abigail Adam, Noah Webster, Benjamin Franklin, or any of the patriots that served….. first as pastors, farmers, writers, lawyers, philosophers, and housewives….even George Washington cannot turn this ship around. As long as we see ourselves as incapable of making a difference, we only exacerbate the problem ….. by lamenting upon the issues without contributing to the solution.
Genesis 47:13-27 tells us that economic hard times fell upon Egypt , and the people turned to the government of Pharaoh to deal with this for them. And Pharaoh nationalized the grain harvest, and placed the grain in great storehouses that he had built. So the people brought their money to Pharaoh, like a great tax increase, and gave it all to him willingly in return for grain. And this went on until their money ran out, and they were hungry again. So when they went to Pharaoh after that, they brought their livestock – their cattle, their horses, their sheep, and their donkey – to barter for grain, and verse 17 says that only took them through the end of that year. But the famine wasn’t over, was it? So the next year, the people came before Pharaoh and admitted they had nothing left, except their land and their own lives.
“There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our land. Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we with our land will be servants to Pharaoh.” So they surrendered their homes, their land, and their real estate to Pharaoh’s government, and then sold themselves into slavery to him, in return for grain. What can we learn from this, brothers and sisters? That turning to the government instead of to God to be our provider in hard times only leads to slavery? Yes… and the only reason government wants to be our provider is to also become our master?
We see the same thing happening today – the government today wants to “share the wealth” once again, to take it from us and redistribute it back to us. It wants to take control of healthcare, just as it has taken control of education, and ration it back to us, and when government rations it, then government decides who gets it, and how much, and what kind. And if we go along with it, and do it willingly, then we will wind up no differently than the people of Egypt did four thousand years ago – as slaves to the government.
