Synopsis of  Reclaiming the Mountain of Government

Today’s slice of the bread of life, the Word of God, comes from Ephesians 4:5-8:

There is only one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and there is only one God and father, who is over us all and in us all and living through us all. However, he has given each one of us a special gift according to the generosity of Christ. That is why the scriptures say,”When he ascended to the heights, he led a crowd of captives and gave gifts to his people.”

Notice that it says “he ascended.” This means that Christ first came down to the lowly world in which we live. The same one who came down is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that his rule might fill the entire universe. He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

Here is a brief descriptive reason for this series. (NEED TO ADD THIS – IT IS PRESENT IN THE AUDIO)

How do we recognize what the seven mountains of culture are? We find them in Deuteronomy 7:1:

“When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are about to enter and occupy, he will clear away many nations ahead of you: the Hittites, Gergashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites. These seven nations are all more powerful than you.”

God warned them that the seven enemies were greater and mightier than they were. He was letting them know that they would win the battles, not because of who they were, but because of whose they were; Isaiah 2:2:

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it”.

Now let me describe these seven mountains:

  • Government: where evil is either restrained or endorsed
  • Education: where truth or lies about God and his creation are taught
  • Media: where information is interpreted through the lens of good or evil
  • Arts and Entertainment: where values and virtue are either celebrated or destroyed
  • Religion: where people worship God in spirit and in truth, or settle for a ritual.
  • Family: where either the blessing or curse is passed on to successive generations

So you see, these are important mountains. In fact you probably have been complaining about each of them as you read or heard the daily news… How do we plan to recapture these mountains of culture?…
